Information Literacy and Workshops

In this guide, you will find information on programs and workshops being held in the G. R. Little Library and Music Library. Each workshop is developed to help students, and faculty at Elizabeth City State University gain and develop the skills they need to succeed in their classes.

The American Library Association (ALA) defines information literacy as a person's ability to recognize when information is needed, locate, evaluate, and effectively use said information.

What is Information Literacy?

Information Literacy forms the basis for lifelong learning. It is common to all disciplines, to all learning environments, and to all levels of education. It enables learners to master content and extend their investigations, become more self-directed, and assume greater control over their own learning.

Information Literacy is a popular way for faculty and librarians to collaborate inside and outside of the classroom. Popular collaborations include co-teaching courses, embedded librarians, creating tutorials, and library instruction.
