Finding Books

Please use  the Library's online catalog, to find books relevant to the study of social work. Although you may search the catalog in a variety of ways, one of the most effective ways to find a variety of materials on a specific topic is to conduct a subject search.

Some of the general subject headings that may be useful when looking for social work research include:

Human Services

Public Welfare

Child Welfare

Teenage Parents

You can also use more narrowly defined subject headings to find materials in specific areas of social work research. If you are interested in government policy in social work, for example, you might use subject headings like:

Aid to Families With Dependent Children

Federal Aid to Child Welfare

Youth – Government Policy

Aged – Legal Status, Laws, etc.

WorldCat offers author, title and subject access to books owned by libraries throughout the United States and the world. WorldCat is available through NCLIVE
