Quotation marks = search for phrases (two or more words): "african american" or "20th century"
OR = more. Combine synonyms or similar terms to increase the number of results: jazz OR be-bop OR bop
AND = fewer. Use AND to narrow your results. Combine different concepts to narrow your search: Blues AND performers

By Composer, Artist, or Performer
Search the catalog above using a personal name in the following format: last name, first name. Use the drop-down menu to select Artist

For a group, band, or artist with a single name or unconventional name, simply type in the name and select Artist from the drop-down menu.
